Astro hotel is exceptionally clean with really attentative staff. The rooms were of a good size with all the necessary equipement i.e. safe, fridge, air conditioning, hair dryer, radio, clean towels etc.The hotel is small and friendly (the maid greated us by first names everyday) and very quiet at night. The pool is of perfect size with adequate amounts of sunbeds (free) surrounding the pool. It also houses a jacuzzi pool next to the hotel bar.It is a very small walk to the beach, bus stop and main street. It is also very close to some of the best resturants in Kamari and a brilliant bakery. The breakfast is of an average standard but provides cererals, boiled eggs, bread, cheese, ham, fruit, hot drinks and fruit juices.I would definately go back again. |

This hotel is in a great location & offers clean, comfortable, simple rooms at great prices. The staff were very helpful & gave us loads fo advice on where to eat, travel tips etc. We would happily stay at this hotel again & reccomend it.Kamari as a place is perfect. It has far more happening than Perissa & is not far from anywhere. Hire a car from the street that the hotel is on, i forget the name of the company but stick to this one because it is run by locals who no their stuff & offer great services for a fraction of the price of others. We had 2 excursions & a Jimny for 4days for only 140 euros where the others were charging much more.Head to the Red Beach, Fira, Oia for the sunset & the hidden beach & harbour, AgiosGeorios, the Light House for the views of the entire island. Take a trip on the Volcano excursion as youll get to go to the hot springs & Tharissa - which is soo tranquil & small.Eat where the locals eat because the food is the best & wear flipflops in the sea because the pebbles really hurt your feet... other than that, enjoy exploring! |

WE WILL BE BACK! -

This is the first hotel weve stayed in on a holiday that I can say I would DEFINITELY go back to, and also the first one in which we wanted to spend any time - all the others we have just used as a base and a place to sleep, but we tended to return to the room during the day and swim or sit on the balcony and read. The room we had was simply furnished, but very comfortable and sparkling clean (it was serviced every day as well), and Leonidas went out of his way to make sure our stay was a good one. All rooms have a small refrigerator, so you can keep your water (or beer or wine!) cold. There is also a television with satellite channels, but to be honest, we rarely turned it on. The shower was very satisfying and powerful. The swimming pool is wonderfully clean and not overly-chlorinated, and the hotel is within 5 minutes walk of the beautiful black pebble beach as well. There is a collection of books in various languages (including English) in the lobby which you can help yourself to once youve exhausted your own collection.Breakfast is very good, with lovely fresh crusty bread, thick Greek yoghurt and honey, boiled eggs, fresh feta cheese, olives and ripe and juicy tomatoes, in addition to cornflakes and sliced meat and cheese. Thanks so much to Markalios and Leonidas in particular for making our stay in the Astro so wonderful. WE WILL BE BACK!!! |

The Astro hotel is spotlessley clean, well run and centrally located. The breakfasts are continental but the quality and choice is all there. The gardens are a beautiful oasis in a busy area of Kamari.Several restaurants are very close by ,we found the best was the one adjoined to the hotel "Sellada Taverna" family run.We had room 6 at the front of the hotel lookng over the pool area. The room was large enough, very clean had hot water at all times of day which in Greece is not always available ,and it had everything you could need including a radio, hairdryer ,air con ,and a small fridge to keep your drinks cold. The room safe costs 1 Euro per night ,good value.Dont miss Santos winery with views of the caldera and a Thira sunset simply stunning. The cleaning ladies and reception staff are also wonderful attentive people that go that extra mile to help guestsAnyone thinking of staying here and has already read any negative reports please ignore them the hotel is wonderful ,We have nothing neagtive to say about it. |
